After giving birth, you and the baby will be cared for. You will be able to hold your baby for the first time, look at him and enjoy him. Then, the nurses will whisk him away to clean him up and check to make sure nothing is wrong.
They will spend time helping to clean you up, too, and handling any complications during the birth that may have happened. While this only takes a few minutes, most of the time Mom and baby will be together, side by side. After you give birth, your doctor will make sure you are alright and that the baby is alright. From there, they will care for you, allow you to rest and make sure that feeding is going well before you leave for home.
While you are in the hospital, which should be for several days at least, take advantage of it. Giving birth is a trying experience! Learn all that you can about your baby and make sure that your questions are answered. They will help you in every way that is possible to feel comfortable while you are giving birth and afterwards if you allow them to. |
